alphadidact® Digital connects 31 dental simulation stations
The Centre for Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine (ZZMK) at the University Hospital Jena has upgraded its training centre with the alphadidact® Digital multimedia system. The system covers 31 dental simulation stations and offers students an optimised learning environment.

Challenge
Before implementation, ZZMK faced several requirements: live demonstrations and instructions were to be transmitted simultaneously in high quality to all simulation stations. Students were to actively participate in the learning process and interact directly with lecturers. The system needed to be scalable, flexible and operate independently of the hospital's IT and network environment.
Solution
The installation comprises 31 networked dental simulation stations. High-resolution real-time audio and video transmission from the central teaching station to all stations enables students to follow treatments and techniques with high detail accuracy. Various sources – cameras, microscopes, laptops, mobile devices – can be connected and integrated directly into teaching. Each simulation station can be controlled individually; students can ask questions and retrieve content from their own stations.
Results
- Live demonstrations reach all students simultaneously and in high quality
- Students are more engaged and can ask questions and receive feedback in real time
- The system is scalable and can integrate future technological developments
The installation has significantly improved the quality of dental education at ZZMK.
