First alphadidact® Digital multimedia system in Iraq

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) was founded in 2006 and has been offering US-style higher education since 2007. With over 1,400 students, it has developed into an important educational centre. In February 2024, the EBS alphadidact® Digital multimedia system was installed – creating an interactive learning environment with one professor and 30 students in the simulation lab.

Challenge
Before installation, teaching staff faced several challenges:
- Limited visibility of the professor and teaching content
- Lack of interactive teaching methods in the simulation lab
- Limited options for real-time collaboration
- High demand for modern digital learning tools for practice-oriented training
The university was looking for a solution that would improve communication in teaching and sustainably increase training quality.

Solution
After an in-depth evaluation, AUIS chose the EBS alphadidact® Digital multimedia system. The professor can send content directly to the students’ screens – for maximum attention and deeper understanding. Screen sharing and individual connections enable direct interaction. Integration supports visual and practice-oriented learning in simulation-based courses.
Results
- Students actively participate in simulations, ask questions directly via the system and benefit from clear visuals
- Lecturers convey complex content in a visual way and retain control over the teaching process
- Teaching time is used more efficiently thanks to less distraction and more structure
The introduction at AUIS is a significant step towards modernising higher education in Iraq and serves as a model for other educational institutions.
