Modern Microscopy Laboratory in Warsaw with alphadidact® Digital
Interactive training environment enhances the quality of academic teaching
With the installation of the alphadidact® Digital multimedia system, the Warsaw University of Life Sciences has been equipped with a state-of-the-art microscopy training laboratory since the beginning of 2026. The digital system is used in the Department of Botany at the Institute of Biology and creates a new level of interactive higher education teaching.

The alphadidact® Digital multimedia system enables a fully networked learning environment in which lecturers and students actively collaborate. A previously conventionally equipped laboratory with student microscopes has been transformed into an interactive training room that allows bidirectional image transmission, digital analysis and collaborative learning in real time.

At the core of the system is bidirectional image communication: lecturers can transmit live images from their workstation to individual students, groups or all 16 student workstations—as well as to two 65-inch wall monitors and a projector.
At the same time, alphadidact® Digital enables the return transmission of images from individual student workstations to the lecturer and their display to the entire group. This not only enhances teaching quality but also promotes active exchange and collaborative learning.

By retrofitting existing student microscopes with digital cameras—including the Leica DM500—microscopic specimens can be centrally captured, compared and discussed. The system is complemented by a high-performance Leica DM6 B microscope equipped with installed microscope cameras. In addition, content can be integrated from computer storage, external data carriers or directly from a laptop.
“alphadidact® Digital creates an interactive training environment in which theory and practice are seamlessly combined. Students are actively involved in the learning process, while lecturers can convey complex content clearly, efficiently and flexibly,” concludes the project team.
Special thanks go to Dr. Eng. Sławomir Janakowski, who was responsible for the implementation of the project, as well as to our project partners LABSOFT, NTBX IT and KAWA.SKA.
alphadidact® Digital training systems from EBS are already in use at numerous educational institutions in Poland and cover a wide range of modern teaching and training applications. A comparable system was recently delivered to the University of Zielona Góra—in this case in a 4K configuration.
alphadidact® Digital multimedia systems are developed by EBS in Germany and are already in operation in numerous training rooms and laboratories worldwide.
